The juried exhibition includes 155 works by 130 artists. All works in the exhibition are for sale either in person or through the Hoosier Salon online gallery.
The competition attracts long-time professional artists as well as emerging artists. Seven artists in the exhibition are former Best of Show winners. For 23 artists, this was their first time to be accepted into the Hoosier Salon Annual Exhibition. To enter the competition an artist must be a current resident or have lived in Indiana for at least one year.
The Hoosier Salon Annual Exhibition is Indiana’s longest-running annual exhibition of works by Indiana artists. The first Hoosier Salon exhibition opened in 1925 at Marshall Field & Company Galleries in Chicago. A group called Daughters of Indiana created the exhibition to prove Indiana artists deserved national recognition.
The Hoosier Salon 98th Annual Exhibition is open to the public during regular Indiana State Museum hours.
