Hoosier Salon is excited to welcome Jim May as our new executive director. Jim has an outstanding background in art and is well known to Indiana artists and art collectors.
Jim worked at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites as curator of fine arts (1993-2001), director of collections and interpretation (2001-2005) and vice president of museum programs (2006-2009). One of his most significant projects there was serving as project manager for developing exhibits when the new Indiana State Museum opened in 2002.
He also worked at the Herron School of Art at IUPUI as an instructor and director for the Center for Art, Design and Public Life.
Jim worked in private industry from 2009 to 2013 at Briljent, LLC, but he is eager to return to his roots in art and not-for-profit management.
Jim earned a BFA in painting and commercial design from the University of Evansville and a master’s degree in art history from Indiana University.
He became our executive director at the beginning of March and looks forward to getting to know Hoosier Salon artists, supporters and friends. Be sure to introduce yourself to him whenever you’re at a Hoosier Salon event!
